In March, U.S. News and World Report ranked Denver #1 in the country, ahead of the #2 Austin, TX. The March report continues to be one of the most shared real estate news stories in 2016. The rankings take into account affordability of housing and wages which have both been on the rise.
Denver real estate statistics seem to agree. According to REColorado’s monthly Market Snapshot as of August 31, 2016, home prices for single family homes in Colorado are up 12% over the last 12 months with inventory declining 4% during the same time period. The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment pegs the unemployment rate at 3.8%, below the national average of 5%.
